A few notes before starting

Firstly, I obviously have nothing to do with copyright or permissions or any of that. I'm simply cutting and pasting these lyrics after I google them. It's all her work and I'm simply commenting. Also, I will edit some of the lyrics for language to make it more family friendly, but I'm not go ridiculous. You'll still know what was said, but it'll look more like a comic strip with a bunch of symbols in place of the word. That being said, the first song will come out very soon! :)

The Beginning

I recently made a discovery that should not have taken me this long. I have listened to Avril Lavigne since she first started and everything else since then. I've been the biggest fan and went from her being a guilty pleasure to fully admitting to the world my love for her and her music.

On a recent car trip, I was driving for 5 or so hours and having her complete discography, I decided to listen to just Avril on that stretch. After listening to so many of her songs in a row, I came to one succinct conclusion. Most of her songs are about relationships (no big surprise, most modern music is in some way), but her songs also offer a plethora of great advice; tips that if we would all follow more would make our lives better, our relationships more meaningful and hopefully long lasting. These are simple tips told in catchy melodies and choruses through her experience and ones to which we can all relate.

The purpose then of this blog, is to bring to light these simple truths as little things we can all do better in all of our interpersonal relationships and specifically those with our significant other, the one we love. Every week will have the lyrics from one song posted with special emphasis added via highlighting and then my take on the song and the lessons learned from those highlighted passages and the song in general. She has many songs and the lessons and tips are broad in nature from the evils of complacency to first date etiquette to the things we need to do daily. That being said, I hope you enjoy this journey through pop culture and perhaps to some extent a journey of self awareness.
